Charlie Sheen

There has been a lot of talk lately about Charlie Sheen in the News. Maybe he is going crazy or maybe it is all a publicity stunt. Who knows? With all the media attention on Charlie lately, I was excited to watch a movie that was suggested by my Netflix account.

POSTMORTEM

The first thing that I noticed is that in this movie, Sheen used "Charles " instead of "Charlie " on the Movie Cover and in the Credits. Now, at first, I thought that he was trying to come across as a serious actor. After all, this movie was released in 1998. I thought that perhaps at some point in his life, Charlie was really serious and mature.

Then I began to watch the movie...

The setting is in Glasgow, Scotland. The opening scene is Charlie drinking in a bar at lunchtime. Charlie plays the role of Detective James McGregor, who is on some type of sabbatical from the USA. Apparently he has some skeletons in his closet from the get go, and ironically (or iconically , whichever you prefer for Mr. Sheen), the mansion that McGregor is staying in has been passed down from his well-to-do family. I sense a certain level of nepotism , although through name changing, it is often avoidable. Not in all cases.

Charlie...er ..McGregor is being interviewed on a Scottish Television Network and he lashes out at the female interviewer when she mentions his "Wild ways... " The next scene takes place in the lavish mansion that he is (drinking a lot) occupying, and he is a drunk and womanizer. The mansion, I should point out, was in a Gated Community . I think that I am seeing a trend here.

Now I don't know about you, dear reader, but even though the movie was produced 13 years ago, there are already a lot of similarities and correlations to Charlie Sheen's recent behavior and current lifestyle.

The interviews, the drunkenness, womanizing...I think that this is truly the story of Mr. Sheen's life. Now before I continue, I would like to point out that I enjoy watching Charlie Sheen on the Big Screen. I think that he is a talented actor and I enjoy his sarcasm. I am sad to see 2 1/2 Men change because I have enjoyed that show over the last couple of years.

Charlie soon becomes a suspect in the murder and then there are several other murders that take place, serial killings. There is some nudity, a few faxes, more womanizing, and a lot of hangovers. The killer's profile was (surprise) a white male 20-30 years old, well educated and upper middle class, most likely a loner.

Eventually, I turned off the movie. I didn't care for the plot repetition. I am giving it 3 1/2 stars-the 1/2 because he used "Charles" instead of Charlie. With that said, I did enjoy the Bagpipe rendition of "Amazing Grace" around 1 hour 37 minutes.

A long story short, I tried to receive Charlie Sheen as a serious and mature actor. I felt that if I did my research then I could find him in a different light. I have yet to find that side of Charlie. I hope that he is able to clean up his act and come back to Earth-Realm.

Everyone is watching Charlie now. LOL

I love 2/12 men. It is some of his best work.

I do not know if it is a gimmick like some are saying but he looks wired to me

Jangaplanet: I just don't think he ever lived in the "real" world like most people. He grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth and like many people who were, they tend to have addictions because they are missing something in their lives.

Look at Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Michael Jackson...just to name a few. They are so out of touch with reality because they live so secluded from everyday human interaction. Sheen looks and acts nuts; he will either change, or die. Let's hope he changes-at least for his children! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

I have always liked him in most of all his movies. I think he is a good actor and I always enjoyed the two and a half men show. I don't know much about his personal life other than what I have heard on the news but it does sound like he definitely needs to grow up and make some intelligent adult changes.

Well said, zzron! Thanks for the comment. I always watch repeats of "Two and A Half Men"! I always watched it, but like all good things, I guess that it must come to an end.

Be careful what you play/act. You might just become that if you do not get professional "de-rolling"

I have no patience for Mr. Sheen. He arrived in Hollywood via his father's back and has now convinced himself he is a genuis. Most of his films are mediocre and predictable. I suppose he could learn from his current crisis, pouring all that psychosis and angst into a role of substance, but it's doubtful. He needs some tough love, but that's doubtful too.

BukowskiBabe I couldn't agree more. He is so arrogant and he really isn't as smart as he thinks he is! That he thinks he's a genius, jut makes him look more stupid! I'll pray for him...Thanks for the comment!

JS, You're a good soul. I think of what I could do with the money Sheen has. The people I could help and I get frustrated, but he's a human being in crisis and you say, "I'll pray for him," and you would be right.

Thanks BukowskiBabe! I appreciate that! I did hear that he does make significant donations to charity although I have nothing to back that up.
