How I Was In A Car Accident I Was Wearing My SeatBelt, Thank God Saved My Life From The Crash!

I was on my way home from work, delivering Bottled Natural Spring Water on the same route that I drive every Friday. I live and work in New England and as you know there has been a lot of snow in my area lately.

Well, I had just left my last customer's house and as I was entering the Interstate Highway, I slid on a patch of ice and slush, lost control, and then the next thing I knew I was rolling over in slow motion.

I went up into the snow bank once I lost control and the guard rail caused me to go into a roll. Luckily, I was only traveling less than 30 miles per hour as I was attempting to merge onto the highway. I think the biggest life saver is that I was Wearing My Seat Belt! Had I gone over the guard rail the other way, I would have plummeted into a 40' ditch filled with trees, and a water way at the bottom.

God was with me today, as He always is, and I walked out alive and unharmed.

It's a strange feeling to see your life flash before your eyes. I've often heard of that from other people but I truly experienced that today. I was upside down and a little disoriented from the accident. I couldn't release my seat belt. I was forcing myself up against the roof of the van which was now the floor, but I just couldn't reach the button; it was like being suspended in thin air.

Now a few seconds have passed and all I can think about is that I am going to get hit by incoming traffic; I am upside down on the right side of the highway, I can't see, and I am at a 90 degree angle to the traffic, which was moderate at the time. I could die!

All of a sudden as I am feverishly working at getting my seat belt off a person comes and opens my driver's side door. He identifies himself as a Military-Trained First Responder . He asks if I am OK, in pain, can move etc. My only reply was that I was fine and I was stuck in my seat belt and couldn't release it.

He reached in and took the key out of the ignition. He then helped me get out of the seat belt and onto safer ground. I don't know how I didn't get hurt. I can't believe that no car hit me. All I know is that I was wearing a seat belt. I really think that that saved me. I could have been ejected out of the vehicle, or crushed. But I walked out alive and unscathed, to share my story!

Several years ago I had an ex girlfriend die in a rollover car accident. It was very sad. She was only in her early 20's and had her whole life ahead of her. Eerily similar, both of our accidentsonly involved our own car's and no one else. Maybe Jess was watching over me?

Well as it turns out, the Fire Department responded with an Engine and an Ambulance showed up along with 2 State Police Vehicles to re-direct traffic. A wrecker came and flipped it over on its wheels and then towed it away (see the pictures below) . One of the hardest things that I had to do was call my boss and give her the news. I felt awful just thinking that she just bought the van less than 2 weeks before.

I just want to thank the people that stopped for me and called 911, especially the First Responder . Along with the seat belt, they helped keep me safe, and may have saved my life! Good Samaritans-I love this country!

Needless to say, I am a little shook up and a tiny bit sore. I think I will be OK in a day or so-maybe I just need a good night's sleep.

If anything is learned from this, Seat Belts might not always save lives, but many times...This Time...it did! I hope that everyone buckles up, every time. It could just save your life as it has mine!
