Why Do People Hate Each Other?

Hate

Hate...Such a strong and overused word: "I hate the rain", "I hate black licorice". We use this word every day. Think about it; what are some of the things that you hate? When was the last time you used that word? (I bet it was today!)

Well, I would like to say that I don't hate anything, but of course, that would be a lie. We all have hate; it is an emotion that we are all born with and we must work to overcome it every day.

If untamed, this emotion turns into behavior: Prejudice, Violence, etc. And in fact, all behaviors can be modified, as they are learned, not innate .

One thing I can say, is that I do Hate war and I hate everything that comes with it. Broken countries, broken families, disease, death, and so on. I really would expect that human beings in this day and age, with all the available technology and communication, that we could eradicate most of the wars.

Why are we fighting the Taliban? Did anyone ask us to do that? Is the Taliban responsible for 9-11 ? I know that we are liberating some people in that region, and I am happy for that, but maybe, just maybe, we should choose our battles wiser. I could go on and on about the "Bush Agenda" (starting with the Father) but why bash people and cry over "spilled milk"? Let's move on from the present. We know that they did a lot of damage, but when are we going to move forward, as a country, as a Human Race?

We have 2 immediate possible outcomes:

1. Continue our way until most people die in a "WWIII", or

2. Change the way we think and practice our politics. Health Care is very important, and I, personally, support Social Healthcare much like the model in Canada. But that's not my point here. We need to get out of the Middle East and fight out own battles at home: Disease, AIDS, Cancer, Gangs, Unemployment...the list continues.

In short, we need to take care of our own problems before we create newer problems throughout the world. We need people to become educated on world affairs, Vote, and take action! Only then can we truly represent and help the world.

@Sunshine625: It sure is an ugly word and what makes it worse is that it is taught! There is a difference though between hate and dislike. I can dislike a part of something yet like it as a whole. When someone hates something, it tends to be in it's entirety. Thanks for commenting Sunshine!

Hate is such an ugly word ... detest or dislike is less ugly and serves the same purpose.

but hate is not the opposite of love...it's indifference...if you're capable of hating then if turned positive...it would become a very strong feeling which is love...great hub...

I totally agree with Mr J.S.Matthew. it is really painful when we disregard people problems, but it is more worse when some superpower countries exploit other weak countries. It is difficult to control people thinking or feeling about anything, but we must to know that all of us will die sooner or later. therefore we have no time to hate each other. only one who will sustain competitive for ever he is our God. we belong to him and we will charge people and countries who injustice us

It always struck me as ironic that it takes as much emotion to hate as it does to love.

I think hate is also one of the instrument in our feelings but it should also used only to its needed level.

Hate should be expressed either in words or writings or a shouting and not into violence.

Because if you dont hate in this world you are putting pressure on your heart and one day it will explode. Why girls live longer is because they express happiness and sad suddenly.

God has blessed them with the gift of crying which is not with majority of men. That is why heart failures are more with men. this is what I understood. May be I AM WRONG.

We hate each other because its human nature, because there is so much inequality in the world starting from states, down to brother and sister and the division between them that is created based on interest.
