Why Do I Keep Seeing "Thanks for SHARING" in Many Great Comments On Hubs Lately?
73What Are You SHARING?
Have You Noticed This "SHARING" Phenomenon?
You may have recently noticed the phrase: "Thanks for SHARING" lately in Hubber's Comments lately. I am referring to the all-caps in the word SHARING. What is that all about?
Well, the idea came from Brett.Tesol in the recent Hub: "Do You Like to Share? Let's Help Everyone Get More Readers!"
Brett's Hub started off as a great idea that seems to be going viral on HubPages.
So what is this all about? Well, if you know Brett, than you will know that Brett likes to share Hubs. Whether in the Hub Feed, on Facebook or Twitter, Brett likes to share!
See, Brett understands that when you share other people's work, they just might share yours. And if you read Brett's Hub, you will get a very simple message: Pay It Forward!
- Select a few low score or outdated Hubs (or new Hubs) from people you follow.
- Comment on those Hubs. Be sure to leave insightful comments!
- SHARE the Hubs on your Social Media Network!
That is the first part of Brett's ingenious strategy. The next part illustrates how to let those followers know that you shared their article. How can we do that? Well, as Brett suggests, we should add to the bottom of our comment, the phrase:
"Thanks for SHARING!"
When the Hub author sees this, they will know that this article has been shared by the commentor and to keep it going, the author will in turn do the same for the commentor. He or she will go to a Hub of the person who left a comment and leave a comment on one or two of their Hubs, and will leave the same message at the bottom of the comment once they have SHARED in their own network.
Are You SHARING Yet?
So that is what all the "SHARING" chatter is about. Make sure to read Brett's Hub from the link above. I urge you to jump on the bandwagon and start "Paying it Forward"! We have nothing to loose by sharing great articles and the HubPages community becomes tighter and more accessible when we all lend a helping hand. Let's face it, we can all use the traffic and what better way to gain traffic than to help out our friends and colleagues? SHARE something today!
Here's to you Brett! Cheers and Bottoms Up!
THANKS FOR SHARING!!!

Thanks for SHARING!:)
Great idea. Thanks for sharing.. :)
Thank you JSMatthew for expanding on Brett's hub. This is something I started doing when I figured out the share button. I started it when I read older hubs that the hubbers had not received any comments. I love it and hope it has helped traffic for some of those writings. THANKS FOR SHARING
Wow .... I am really honored!!!! A very nice gesture J.S.Matthew :-).
If anyone is looking for like minded PEOPLE THAT WILL SHARE IN RETURN, remember to browse the comments of this hub and my hub, as there are many hubbers that like to share!!
Thank you for the tribute!!! SHARED SOCIALLY and voted up + awesome.
Good explanation for those who haven't seen the original post by Brett. Voting this Up and Useful. And thanks for SHARING.
One hubber have that idea :D I read it and so I am doing it too on some of my post. Thanks dor sharing :D
I'm off to Brett's Hub, Thanks for SHARING : )
This sharing bandwagon is great. It feels good to pay it forward. Nice Hub - voted up!
Like mljdgulley, once I figured out the share button, I loved to share hubs that I enjoyed reading. Thank you for posting this...paying this forward.
I read Brett's hub a few days ago. Fascinated by how he's managed to spread this idea across. I actually did not even know we had a share button, till it was mentioned! go figure! Up and interesting and SOCIALLY SHARING!
Read Bret's hub and its very interesting a hub. Useful and has good potential of gaining extra readership. SOCIAL SHARING IT
I had noticed the rise in the 'thanks for SHARING' and now I know why. I will be checking out Bretts hub too. Thank you for sharing.
Well, what an insightful hub as well as as wonderful explanation of the all caps SHARING phenomena! Thanks for SHARING, and I've done my part by sending this onward via social channels:)
Bret is a genius who helps so many!! JS, you did a great job explaining what Brett is doing and what we can all do.
Loved it! Voted up and shared!! Thanks for SHARING! :-)
Thank you for sharing, I'm off to check out Bretts hub - an excellent idea!
I will be SHARING and I always vote. I also read Bret's hub. I saw someone say they were sharing with Google how do you do that?
Looks like you got your answer. Seems Brett's genius is overflowing and he's SHARING it with all of us who can pay this forward and keep everything growing!
Sharing is caring. I have to admit this is something I am striving to work on again this year. Thanks so much for a wonderful reminder. Thumbs up! :)
Caring and SHARING is something we as a business have been doing including other hubbers hubs which somehow adds to a message we want to get out. We couldn't hit the share it everywhere button because some of the places we share would ban us if we shared hubs there.
Pleased to see you hub is a success!
The more people share, the more traffic they will get in return, so EVERYONE WINS!
This is also good for search engine traffic, as Google will see more people visiting and rate that as a popular/good place to send searchers ... at least I have noticed an increase.
Very impressed you have replied to every comment ... I just couldn't when I first launched the idea ... still catching up now! lol but, I AM RETURNING a comment and share for each share (at the very least), almost caught up now (he says lol ... what a great thing to be able to say).
Thanks for SHARING the care to share approach with even more people.
Thanks for this hub article. I never considered this idea until you pointed it out and suggested the link for further reading. I went to the other hub and the information to be very thought prevoking and well worth considering as I use the Hub Hopper to review new hubs.
Thanks for SHARING
Hi J.S.Matthew,
Just to let you know that I have released some interesting results about this here:
http://brett-tesol.hubpages.com/hub/How-you-can-In
I have also inserted a link to this hub, so I hope a few people will take the time to join up and read a few of your hubs and of your followers that SHARE.
Cheers for now,
Brett
I have always enjoyed sharing a great read, and there's no better way to bring a community closer together. Thanks for SHARING
I've been doing this whenever I get on Hubpages for the past few weeks and the results are absolutely AMAZING. I'm new here, but already I'm finding the community to be open and helpful, not to mention friendly. I usually share on Twitter and Facebook, though sometimes I'll submit the hub to Digg and Stumbleupon if it's not there yet. Well, here's the obligatory thanks for SHARING!
Matthew, I was seeing that a lot on my pages and didn't know why that one word was capitalized, but, now I know. Thanks for enlightening. SHARING
What I don't like about the "Thanks for sharing", comment game is, it doesn't have originality, & is more generic than being sincere to tell you the truth.
I think people just want an easy way out of having to read peoples hubs, and simply wanna breeze on by, judging by the lack in insightful comments I receive daily, I feel this is the hidden purpose & agenda behind the whole simply leaving a Thanks for sharing comment everywhere.
Now if it is grouped with an insightful comment than I see it as being OK, but don't just write THANKS FOR SHARING and think it is enough for the hubpages system to accept, because its always watching our every move here.
Good luck on that game whom ever started it here, but I'll keep reading peoples hubs in their full entirety, no matter how long they appear to be. I'm here to truly share with folks, not to play a little comment game, but its to each ones own I guess. Oh by the way Thanks for sharing this continuation to the already ridiculous original thanks for sharing hub.
Inspiration is one thing, but trickery well, that's for kids like they use to tell that silly rabbit said in the Trix cereal commercial.
See a comment is only a true comment to me if people meant it, I like this hub but I just don;t like if people aren't being genuine, and I'm sure hubpages frowns upon that part as well. Being insightful while sharing is important whether it be a comment, a posting, a hub, a forum discussion.
Brett was cool to create such a sharing campaign, but it seems people are becoming more in-genuine in a race to get high stats. That's my fear, that the greatness in authors is going to be passed by, and its not cool, at least that part.
I worked very hard to get where I'm at on the web, and in hubpages, and for people to just leave such a weak comment for the fact of numbers makes me feel cheated, this sharing idea is cool, but needs to be also shown differently, not everyone is here to use good integrity, sharing should be with true intentions & true integrity.
That's what we all deserve as authors of creative works, and its the least we could receive. This is why the hubpages system is built to weed out the in-genuine folks, and praise the genuine ones.
Thanks formsharing this new ideology :)
Thanks a lot! You made me feel bad. I have most of this stuff (how to share, how to generate traffic, how to make $ by hooking your tracking number on stuff, how to look like you know what you are doing) bookmarked. I am trying to make a living here, and I never needed the internet. Now I am way behind the pack, all I can see is runners ahead of me.
Thanks for freaking sharing, pal.
Thanks. I was joking and you know it. I'll never catch up, but I am gaining speed. I am involved with other efforts, and my stint here has really opened my eyes. I may never be a great hubber, but HubPages has helped me learn how it all works. It will enhance my web presence in time. Who knows, I might even pocket a little jingle on the way.
SHARING works all over.
I always write "thanks for sharing" because I appreciate that someone has shared their thoughts or ideas on their hubs. But this is a cool use of those words too! Thanks for SHARING!
The SHARING explosion is terrific. I know a few people were doing it occasionally and with no fanfare, but Bretts's article, and now yours, have gotten so many more people involved. A very good thing indeed. :) SHARING all the time. :)
Hurray on that awesome Comment, wow @ J.S. Mathew, I am surprised to see your intense level & power of observations. You have answered my response in such a kind, and well thought out manner, and for that I am honored to be in your presence as well.
Thanks for paying my newest hubs tribute, and for sharing them with me as well as with countless others here, it goes to show your true spirit of sharing, and awesome positive outlook on our performance as an entire community.
I knew you were a community leader here, prior to commenting on this hub, and had a feeling you would react in such a manner, there after my tough response I posted.
I try my best to be honest as to what I'm experiencing here & with great care, as well as keeping in mind as you've stated that this is the world we authors are writing to.
I am truly appreciative for what you've done here by clarifying your true purpose with such a hub, and for that of your presence in the hubpages system a fellow hubber of our, and by remaining humble enough even though your leadership role here is of such a high stature.
To be this humble is quite an amazing characteristic to possess, and I can only hope to learn to become more like you some day, especially if I am to ever play such a significant role in any organization.
Yes.... Thanks for SHARING:)
J.S.Matthew - so glad to have included this hub in my latest hub luv hub. By doing so, I was able to nab both you and Brett.Tesol!
As you and Brett have both noted, we all win when quality content on HubPages is shared with the Internet community. And the camaraderie that is created through the mutual sharing brings the HP community closer together too.
Voted up and SHARED.
I only share the hubs that I have read and I try to leave authentic comments. And then I'll usually follow that person and leav fan mail.
Thanks for SHARING.
Yes, the idea of sharing is well appreciated. Cheers to Brett.Tesol. Great hub and SHARED.
I would like to let you know that your kind act of sharing one of my hubs helped in increasing my daily page views considerably.
I have acknowledged this in my new hub"My hub views shot up from 60 to 395 in a day: "Thanks for SHARING"
This happened after you shared the hub"Confident children" in reddit.com. In a single day that hub alone received 200 views from reddit.com
That was a big leap from my daily average of 60 views.
I sincerely THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
Sharing has been working for both the corporation and our hubs in a big way. Page ranking for hubs has increased with the added back links. The comments and retweeting on social sites seem to be helping also.
One of the factors search engine "bots" look at is reputation. Social sharing with good comments on the social sites help increase it. This is just one of the benefits of social sharing.
Hub pages has long understood how to increase each authors reputation in house, and with all the social sharing which is happening now it will increase the value of the whole site once again.
Now that we are all on sub domains more of the back linking and reputation of our work fall to us the users.
Helping each other increase our subdomains value is something we should all be taking seriously.
J. S. Matthew, you had it right my last comment here was too short. I hoped you guessed I would be back with a well optimized comment to give you a boost.
SHARING this once again with my twitter followers, this time the corporate account.
Please feel free to use my comment in your hub. I feel previleged to be part of "sharing".
This should continue and should not die down as many hubbers may get benefited out of this.
Thank you.
Sorry Mathew 2 weeks back I have landed in this page and gone to the link of Brett.Tisol and missed to comment here. Really wonderful technology of spinning the page in social sites. Tanks for SHARING:)
Great idea, I found your hub from Brett.Tisol. Thanks for SHARING.
J.S. Really needed this hub. Great reminder to help one another. Thanks for SHARING.
Voted up and awesome.
You did a great job here of illustrating this phenomenon. I agree totally and share hubs that are well written and or have a great subject that I think others will want to read. I also am careful to not spam anyone, but to use this judicially!
Thanks for SHARING!
Great idea I will share more!!
When we pay it forward, we not only help our writer friends, we help other readers who may otherwise have missed the hub. That's why I link wherever I can, and I enjoy SHARING!
I beleive in the concept of "Pay It Forward so wholeheartedly, it is the name of one of my businesses..."Pay It Forward."
BTW...Thanks for sharing!
I was wondering what the SHARING was, thanks for writing this. and thanks for SHARING!
Great topic! Will do more and more sharing! Voted up! Take care!
Oooo. Well that explains a lot. Thanks a ton for the explanation, and thanks for Sharing!
Great idea. Happy to see that all is moving around here.
Almoast forget, Thanks for SHARING!
Hi Mathew,
I joined Hubpages 2 years ago with a lot of enthusiasm. Once inside, I learned that I had come to the right place to express my ideas as well as to get to know a lot of lovely people.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to continue hubbing with the same fervor with which I had joined because of my freelancing activities that was providing me a solid monthly income.
All along, I had been missing HP, but couldn't do anything about it.Recently, with a lot of changes happening on HP, I decided that I must continue writing here at least for the fun of it if not for the money. So I made a second beginning if I may say so and started reading more and commenting. I chanced upon this wonderful hub of yours and learned quite a few things about Hubpages.
Thanks for SHARING!! I like this. I read Brett's hub and realized what a wonderful idea it is to share the others' hubs with your own followers. Great idea!
Thanks for this wonderful hub!
Cheers
Rema
Just shared this with my followers. Thanks for Sharing!
Brett is not only a nice fellow here on HubPages but has brought attention to the fact that if we support our fellow hubbers, we all win in the end. Thanks for highlighting his efforts. Many have joined the "bandwagon" so to speak, and I am one of them. Thanks for SHARING.
Hi :)
I only recently noticed the 'share' option in hubs, but, ever since, I have been sharing hubs that I find enjoyable, or interesting, with Hub followers and with Twitter ~ sometimes Facebook, too.
But I don't ask to be shared and I don't mention my 'votes up' or my 'shares' in the comments section.
